Sep 30, 2014

Jessica Chastain has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in J.C. Chandor’s A MOST VIOLENT YEAR. The film has also recently been named National Board of Review’s Best Film of 2014. Oscar Isaac (Abel Morales) took home the award for best actor while Jessica Chastain won best supporting actress for her portrayal of Anna Morales. Following the success of MARGIN CALL and ALL IS LOST, J.C. Chandor’s third, written and directed feature film won the NBR award over both Birdman and Boyhood.

The Guardian’s Xan Brooks described the film as “rigorous, resourceful and as smart as a whip…its canny tactical struggle remains a joy to behold.”

“A Most Violent Year is an exhilarating crime drama with a compelling story, outstanding performances, and an elegant cinematic style,” said Annie Schulhof, NBR President. “J.C. Chandor has given us a new and provocative perspective on the American Dream.”
