Director Alison Klayman’s feature documentary, Unfinished Business, is now streaming on Amazon Prime following a limited run at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) and a Mother’s Day broadcast on ESPN2.
The film, which serves as a vibrant celebration of the WNBA, is a rich and definitive portrait of the WNBA during a major transitional moment as it evolves from a fledgling venture to a flourishing enterprise. Unfinished Business made its worldwide premiere at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival, which received widespread acclaim, including a review from TheWrap reporter Elizabeth Weitzman noting, “One test of a strong documentary is whether the subject matter could interest everyone or simply aficionados. It’s tough to imagine anybody watching Unfinished Business without immediately buying tickets to the next available WNBA game.”
Everyone at Washington Square Films extends heartfelt congratulations to Suzan-Lori Parks for her astounding achievement, selected as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2023. SLP penned the musical adaptation of the 1972 film The Harder They Come that debuted this February, executive produced by our own Joshua Blum and Bruce Miller, and recent additions Carmelo Anthony and Asani Swan. The playwright phenom won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her 2001 smash hit Topdog/Underdog, making her the first African-American woman to achieve the honor. She is currently performing in her pandemic-era piece Plays for the Plague Year.
