As a born and bred NYC filmmaker, Joshua brings a gritty realism to his work yet infuses it with a sense of humor and pathos. He is endlessly inspired by people, and has worked intimately with celebrities like Ben Stiller and Jim Gaffigan to tuberculosis victims in the slums of Delhi.
Weinstein recently directed the film MENASHE which was released theatrically by A24 in 2017. It received a 97% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and was nominated for a Gotham and Indie Spirit award.
His work has shown at Sundance, Berlin, and Camerimage. In the advertising world, Joshua’s work has been nominated for a Cannes Lion and in journalism he has been awarded a first place POY for multimedia project of the year for his work with the NY Times.
After attending Boston University College of Communication Film department, he also has since become an alumnus of the CPB/PBS Producers Academy at WGBH. He is an IFP Filmmaker Labs fellow and two time recipient of the NEA funded Southern Circuits Arts Tour.
Fun fact, he used to play bass in the hardcore band Trophy Scars.
