Doug Bost

Doug Bost’s plays and one-acts including The Honeymoon Story, Inappropriate Behavior, Turpentine Twist and Victoria’s Other Secret, among others, have been presented at theaters from New York to Los Angeles. Audio versions of select titles have been broadcast on National Public Radio and were part of the BBC International Radio Play competition. His play, The Lincolnshire Poacher, was published in Play in 2006.

Currently, in coordination with the Jack Kerouac Estate, Doug is working on the screen adaptation of Kerouac’s novel, Maggie Cassidy.

Doug recently collaborated on the screenplay adaptation of Diminished Capacity with the novel’s author, Sherwood Kiraly. An official selection to Sundance 2008, the film was directed by Terry Kinney and stars Matthew Broderick, Alan Alda, and Virginia Madsen. Doug is currently working with Kinney on the development of a full-length feature film project.

In addition, Doug co-wrote Kubuku Rides, a short film directed by Terry Kinney; it is the first film produced by Steppenwolf Films (a division of Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater) and was shown at the 2006 IFP Film Festival in New York, The Los Angeles Int’l Film Festival, and the London Film Festival. Doug’s first short film, Focus Group, adapted from his play by the same name, won a Gold Remi Award for Comedy at Worldfest Houston 2005.

His short stories about growing up in Maine in the 1970s have been published in Portland Magazine, and are currently being assembled for a full-length book.

Doug’s award-winning screenplay, These 2 Men Are Imposters, is the reasonably true story of Coyle & Sharpe, and he would love to talk to you about it.

Doug is a graduate of NYU’s Dramatic Writing Program.
