
Braden King is a New York-based filmmaker whose work has played internationally at festivals including Sundance, Rotterdam, Berlin, London, Torino, Singapore, and Ann Arbor. He has also directed commercials for such top clients as American Airlines, Coca-Cola, ESPN, Microsoft, Miller Beer, Nikon, Samsung, Scholastic, Siemens, and Spectrum Cable.
King’s most recent feature film, The Evening Hour, starring Philip Ettinger and Cosmo Jarvis, premiered at the Sundance and Rotterdam Film Festivals. His debut feature, Here, premiered at the Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals and was adapted into a live installation that premiered at MoMa. Both films were acquired by Strand for theatrical release. King’s other film work includes the lyrical feature documentary Dutch Harbor: Where The Sea Breaks Its Back, the award-winning shorts “Home Movie” and “National Disintegrations” (released by Laura Poitras’ Field of Vision), and music videos for Cat Power, Glen Hansard, Yo La Tengo, Sparklehorse, Sonic Youth, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Laurie Anderson, and Dirty Three.
Awards and honors include the C.I.C.A.E. Prize at the Berlin Film Festival, Cinereach at Sundance Institute Fellowship, Cannes Film Festival Atelier, Sundance/NHK International Filmmakers Award, and Sundance Writers and Directors Lab Fellowships.
